About

My name is Natalie and I'm an avid sports and 70's/80s music fan, amateur sports writer and commentator, and inquisitive learner. I am consistently on the move for exposure and draw first blood when given the opportunity to live the dream to be an educator.

I have a B.A. in Communication Studies from Singapore Institute of Management- University at Buffalo, and am also certified in tutoring, phonics and speech and drama, accredited by the British Council of Singapore (as of June 2013). I have about two years of teaching experience adding up all the time spent in my part time jobs working with students and a solid 7 years of judging secondary school (high school) level debate competitions, and 8 for organizing tournaments. The national tournament which I've been working at has around 90 schools taking part each year!

My undying passion for children grew immensely during my final year of university has left me with a degree in communications but not a job in the public relations or advertising industry. I absolutely love teaching and would not trade it for any other job in the world. I certainly enjoy spending time with elementary-secondary/middle school students while maintaining my level of knowledge on current affairs with grown children through judging debate. My educational motto is short and concise: I make learning fun.

I intend to take up a certificate in speech and drama teaching in January 2013 (preferably) done already!  and perhaps some teaching certifications which would lead to a teaching award by the British Council (Singapore) and work in the elementary school sector, taking up yet another course in teaching-- hopefully sponsored!
